The IIF Center for Global Economic and International Finance founded in 2018, focuses on research in macroeconomics, digital economy, and international finance. It provides decision-making consultation and strategic insights for central and local governments as well as Chinese corporate development. Its mission is to advise macroeconomic decisions, serve corporate development, and establish an influential Chinese authority on global scale.
Professor Zhang Ming serves as the Director of the center, with Professor Wang Xiao as the Executive Director, overseeing comprehensive operational management. Professor Zhang Ming is Vice Director and Research Fellow at the Institute of Finance and Banking, Chinese Academy of Social Sciences (CASS), Deputy Director of the National Institute for Finance and Development, Director, Professor and PhD supervisor at the Finance Department of CASS University. He has held various leadership roles, including Deputy Director of the International Finance Research Office at CASS Institute of World Economics and Politics (2009-2012) and Director of the International Investment Research Office (2012-2020). He was formerly Chief Economist at Ping An Securities (2017-2020) and served as Deputy Mayor and Member of the Standing Committee of the Mianyang Municipal Committee, Sichuan Province (November 2021 - November 2022, temporary position). He conducted visiting research at Harvard Kennedy School (2011-2012) and the Hong Kong Monetary Authority (2008). Professor Wang Xiao obtained her PhD in Economics from the University of Wisconsin in 2011. She joined North Dakota State University, where she received tenure in 2017, focusing her research on international finance and international trade. Her academic papers have been published in international journals of economics and finance.
The center's prominent activities and research outcomes include a series of macroeconomic financial research reports, forums on private equity fund rankings, and publications such as Macroeconomic China and Typical Practices of ESG Information Disclosure by Chinese Listed Companies.
